Please review these pages carefully. It is important that you, your surgeon and the Center's staff work together to make your experience at the Abington Surgical Center as pleasant as possible.
After Your Operation
After your operation , you will be taken to the Recovery Room where you will be monitored and cared for until you are ready to go home. The amount of time patients stay in the recovery room is highly variable (depending on individual differences, surgical procedure and type of anesthesia) , but usually ranges from 15 minutes to 2 hours
In the event of unforeseen complications, you may be admitted to the hospital. Center staff will discuss this with you and your escort. An adult MUST take you home. You may not drive yourself home, or take a taxi or public transportation.
The effects of anesthetic medication stays in the body for up to 24 hours. Therefore we suggest someone be with you, your first night after surgery.
You will receive written instructions about your care at home. It is not unusual to feel slightly dizzy or sleepy after receiving anesthesia and undergoing an operation.
A nurse from the Center will call you the day after your operation to evaluate your recovery and answer any questions you may have.
Feel free to call us if you have any questions or comments before, during or after your operation.
We look forward to caring for you.
